Australian Author
Born in Sydney
Six Male Four Female (One younger of each gender)
Filmed in 1920 by Equitable Motion Pictures Corp. Three of his other plays were also filmed. Captain swift was filmed twice in 1914 and 1920. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0150292
Set in London. A young Englishman falls in love with the governess of his sister's children, but the sister snobbishly contrives to obstruct an alliance with her employee. The film documents his dalliance with all classes as they pass by his window.
From the 1921 Movie Poster - "If a searchlight were thrown upon the heart of human beings as they passed our door, what would you see? A drama of real folks as seen through the window of life".
Fortunately, some of his text are preserved, with four titles on-line. There are stage production photographic stills and promotion posters in National archives. http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-an23217662
It is time we forgave the Australian playwrights of the past for earning stirling in Britain. Malcolm Afford, Walter Turner and Haddon Chambers: these are our Ancients. I am proud of them all.
