Some reviewers comment that Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953) was a prolific playwright who wrote only two comedies, namely one act play "The Hairy Ape" and full length "Ah, Wilderness". The latter is by far the sweetest.
The story is a coming-of-age epic about an lyrical youth in small town America. The play involves a beautifully documented adolescent romance and finishes with a happy ending.
The title refers to a well known verse from an eastern classic, "The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayam".
