Opening night misery

Rapunzel

Thursday 21 July 2011

I HATE opening nights...but love them too. Have finally forced myself to sit down for ten minutes with a cuppa coffee instead of doing a good imitation of a whirlwind. Mind you, Hurricane Jo will take off again once I get to the venue. Got foyer dressing to do, must iron that table cloth, give the smoking jacket a press too, have to clear out the last of the get in stuff (tools, paint, curtains, etc. etc.). Husband has said he will do the last vacuuming of auditorium and stage (hurrah!) so don't have to worry about that. Opened make up box last night to discover favourite foundation and mascara had died....(yuk) Managed to squeeze in a trip to replenish same today, in between trip to bank for float, trip to big stationery shop to do last minute photocopying. Am starting to get a bit giddy....at some point have to STOP. Take off 'Producer' hat and put on 'Actor' hat and then transform into a 'older than she says and on the way down' socialite/actress with endangered brain cells. Argh? got the butterflies in the stomach very, very badly. We all feel like this, right? RIGHT??? Tales of opening night misery welcome....
