Almost There!

It's getting closer and closer...
The curtain is becomming clearer and it's about to rise...
Kind of, there's still this week and next week to go! But Boy Banned is just around the corner, especially from a technical side.
And that's the scary part. We're heavily submerged in theatre rental as well as putting the show together piece by piece. This is our first fully public performance including theatre rental and organising insurance etc. So it's lots of fun...sometimes!
I suppose a blessing is that we don't have to pay for rights to a show- it's our play. The whole play and the 7 original songs are all ours, and we've worked hard on them.
Today for instance, we began work on one of the final two songs which we hadn't recorded yet. I worked on the music last night and this morning (at recess) we recorded the lyrics. The song is called farewell a love/break up song for the boy band in the play (Oh on that note, I keep wanting to spell band as banned now!) and the song has a surprising, humorous twist. I think it's come out very well. And we uncovered a great falsetto voice in Matt, one of the stars. (Who will be in Vietnam on the night!)
The final song just arrived in my inbox 'Cannibal Capers', and it sounds the best out of all of them because it was recorded in a program, rather than in pieces from a piano/keyboard.
These final songs mean that I can complete the video footage of the show- which is so far looking great. I'm quite proud of the editing done so far and I think it's such a great part of the show.
Rehearsals step up a notch now- we have a few on this week, thanks to free periods, parent teacher interview day etc etc. And then with the holidays next week we're stepping up again there...so we're all ready for our day of performance on July 7.
The we're also busily getting the set together so that that will all be running and we're going down to the theatre to learn all the ropes of the complex's running.
It's a busy few weeks ahead- but I guess this is what I love about theatre- that putting it all together feeling, and then the feeling of accomplishment at the end.
MTC Solo workshop tomorrow and 'The Shape Of Things' by Redstitch on Wednesday night. It's a pretty good week this week.
