The School Holidays Are Once Again Upon Us!
Friday 11 January 2008
It seemed like it was about time to post another blog, I haven't done it for awhile.
This year I finished year 12 (hooray!)
After that I kind of worked non-stop to Christmas, had barely any time to see daylight let alone realise- Hey I'm on holidays.
More recently I've had more time off (nobody buys chocolates after Christmas for some reason) and have had time to enjoy the holidays, oh as well as get up to some theatrics- more on that later.
What also alerted me to it being the holidays again is the number of young people posting about auditions again- Na is doing her good old redirection job once again- well done Na for holding up the front. It's nice to see other people doing some searches for people in the local areas to give more information and links to where these young people can turn.
Obviously the kids are looking for something to do in the school holidays, so maybe if anyone knows of any school holiday acting schools or camps or similar get togethers for younger people (I know Frankston Arts Centre offer some) maybe we could compile a little list for people to look at and take part in.
Onto the theatrics. The Lazy Creations Group is now over a year old, and to celebrate we are putting on a private production of a new play of mine 'The Famous Hep-Pae Brothers Circ De Funct'. It's been a very exciting process, it's an outdoor play so it's been lots of fun to rehearse outside and take on that challenge of performing with the elements.
It's a very bright colourful show, about a circus where all the performers have walked out on the two Hep-Pae brothers. It's got a nice sized cast of four (all onstage this time, no film or voice characters like in Boy Banned) and involves circus tricks, sight gags, slapstick comedy and one liners and other jokes.
The rehearsal period has been three weeks (we are about to enter the third this week) and the show premieres on the 19th, so it's all very exciting here as we prepare for the show. I've also been very impressed with the cast so far, we've been working hard, and I think the characters have all really come to life. My brilliant Costume designer (and girlfriend- yes I guess I exploited her talents) has done a wonderful job with costumes and some bits of the set as well, adding nicely to the theming of the show and allowing us to create a stage in the great outdoors.
Apart from theatre I've also been doing some film work on a little sitcom one of my friends has written. We filmed episode five of the season the other day and it looks really good, I'm quite impressed.
So what has everyone else been up to these holidays? Exciting projects? Got anything lined up soon? Seen anything good?
Give me a little postcard post about your holidays so far!
