GIVEAWAY - Need a website? I'm giving away one worth $US 50
Wednesday 23 May 2007
I am no longer in need of one of my websites, and am happy to give it away to any individual/company. The web host is Freewebs.com, and the account is 'premium'. The premium services are paid until mid-December 2007. The premium hosting is worth $US 50.
Freewebs offers easy-to-use web hosting, especially designed for those who don't know how to create a website. How easy is it?
Step one: Create a home page.
Step two: Edit the home page, by adding some text in an easy-to-use text field (for those who know, a WYISWYG editor)
Step three: Choose a template that you like.
Step four: Add your own title, images, and other files, using the easy uploader.
Step five: Add forums, polls, galleries, blog, and more.
Step six: Promote your site!
(I am happy to assist anyone in learning the functions and providing some advice on creating your own wonderful site. See below for screenshots)
Premium services include: ad free web pages, 5 GB bandwidth, 300 MB of webspace, multiple file uploader, unlimited file uploading, unlimited number of webpages, password protection pages, media tools, site stats, priority email support, live chat support (during US timezones), VIP forums, extra templates. The services also include any new features that are added from now on (they just released widgets).
Once an applicant is chosen, I will update the account with their email address and a password (which they should change once logged in), and be able to use the site for whatever they wish. I will also change the name of the account (the name reflects the url; eg. currently the name of the account is Puppets in Melbourne, hence the site is found at freewebs.com/puppetsinmelbourne), and forward all the details through once it has been changed.
PLEASE NOTE: once the premium services expire in December, I am no longer the point of contact for billing, and the winning applicant will have to sign themselves up - and pay - for the premium services if they want to continue having a premium account after December 2007. The site WILL NOT BE CANCELLED if you do not sign up for premium services; the only thing that will happen is that the site will have ads on them, and you will lose some of the optional functionality of the site. If you would like more information about this, please contact me.
HOW TO APPLY
I would like to give this site to an emerging artist/company, and am keen to hear from people from around the country. Those interested in applying should send me a short brief about themselves and what they plan to use the site for. The best applicant will be the one who can show that they will make the most out of the site, and whose use of the site will improve their ability to promote themselves/their company/their work. Questions about how to use the webhost/functions/etc are welcome.
Applications close: 9th June 2007.

Send all applications to Naomi rrseams@yahoo.com. (Please mark applications clearly, otherwise they'll end up in my junk mail box)
