Pre Show Jitters!

Sean B

Sunday 22 April 2007

Well it's time to kick off my first blog- and what an exciting time to do so. This week of course is show week for FCCC's "High School Musical" in which I am Ryan and also the assistant director. It's been a long time now since we cast the show last year and began rehearsals. I had just come off stage from my own show Frank The Plucker, which I wrote and directed (and starred in because of a drop out), before jumping into the High School Musicals Auditions. I was approached to become assistant director after the cast list had been posted, and I was honoured to gain the role. The leap between directing a 14 person show to assistant directing a 60 person show was huge (as you'd expect) but it has been an absolutely brilliant experience. And it is because I am more than just an actor this time that I am getting some pre show jitters. All good and fun of course- I can't wait to be on stage again, I'm just hoping all I've directed works because it is an area I am relatively new at (especially on a large scale such as this.) I must say though I've been working with an incredibly talented group of people especially in the creative department. It may be biased for me to say so but I think the choreographers for the show have done a brilliant show and once again have delivered a high powered, energetic set of dances which has become a big part of Flinders productions at least since I have been at the school. ...which reminds me...this is my last year. It's my last appearance in a 'high school musical' (sorry had to add that one in). So now I do feel really blessed that I have had the opportunity to star in and assistant direct this great production. So on to show week...
