I really enjoyed watching Avatar. The only negative I felt was that the genre is going to generate lots of work for digital artists and technicians and not much for flesh and blood performers. I guess this is not a bad thing because the techies will still need live actors to breathe life into their on-screen avatars. But then again this is probably a bit optimistic as well because Disney cartoons have been made for over half a century without motion capture technology and they have had their share of loveable characters just the same. They didn't need actor's to animate them. I can see a day when there will be purely digital actors that are indistinguishable from humans. The only saving grace is that to create and maintain such a *star* (avastar?) would involve hundreds of technicians, artists and psychologists so they would cost millions and millions of dollars. M-mm, perhaps there is not that big a difference between digital actors and real ones. You can read my Avatar review at http://www.dwcad.com.au/blog/archives/2461.
