Smith Street
(Between Heaven and Hell)

Presented by Theatre Studies students at UWA, and directed by Steve Chinna, this will be the premiere of this newly-written play.

A peepshow, a belltower, Tuscan Splendours, and dilapidated squats form some of the scenarios of Smith Street (Between Heaven and Hell), a colourful 'melodrama' interweaving fantasy and the 'real'. This new play, written by poets John Kinsella and Tracy Ryan, with additional material by Steve Chinna, explores the lives and politics of vigilantes, prostitutes, pimps, dealers, politicians, tourists, cops, and local high and low life who intermingle in a space between heaven and hell, where naturalism moves to fantasy, prose to poetry, dialogue to song, and the distinctions between law makers and law breakers are destabilised.

Your city, your story.
