AddressPRINCESS MAY THEATRE
What The Butler Saw! is a landmark play of the late sixties. Psychoanalysis, madness, mistaken identity and promiscuity make this a very funny, very black theatrical experience.
When Dr Prentice's attempts to seduce his secretary are foiled by the early return of his wife, little does he know that a chain of events has begun that can only end in total mayhem.
Orton's use of farce and black comedy to highlight the hypocrisy of those who would decide what is morally right has had a direct and lasting influence on how we view society. As a new conservatism sweeps through middle Australia at the end of this Century, the subversive nature of this rarely performed comedy classic is given new life by Rough Magic Theatre in a fast slick and lascivious production.
