See an Umbilical Brother unplugged in
WHAT SIMON SAID
ItÂ’s time for Simon stop sleeping and start dreaming. One girl holds the key to his happiness and future, Simon must find a way to her heart without losing his mother.
David Collins of the Umbilical Brothers will perform alone and unplugged in a remarkable cinematic theatre event. David plays Simon in Markwell PresentsÂ’ latest Cinematic Theatre show What Simon Said at The Loft for one week only in July.
What Simon Said is a surreal romantic comedy, combining DavidÂ’s brilliant physical skill with technical wizardry. Three cinematic screens create the animated walls of SimonÂ’s home and office to both encapsulate the performance space and reveal the character's inner self. Surrounded by three-dimensional CG animation and effects, Simon battles with his subconcious atler-ego, brought to virtual life on screen. Every thought, desire, fantasy, memory and situation is revealed.
“This show best represents our vision for Cinematic Theatre. It’s visually stunning with high quality digital effects and surround sound.” Says Brad Jennings, director and co-writer, ”We have an intenationally renowned performer creating an engaging character within an hugely entertaining and interesting scenario”.
“Performing with the Umbilical Brothers is all about creating a performance style that is unlike any other” remarks David, “and Markwell Presents have managed to produce a peice of theatre that does just that. It’s very different from anything else around. After seeing this, who’s going to want to watch ordinary theatre again?”
Steven Maxwell, producer and co-writer says, “If you want to see the next wave in live performance, you love technology and you don’t mind laughing your socks off, this is the show for you.”
