Touring this March and April, regional Western Australian audiences are set to love Ironing out the Wrinkles, a madcap play aboutÂ…wellÂ…getting older.

Reminiscing about her life with husband Herb, recently widowed Olive reflects on her past, rich with love and adventure. With offbeat humour balanced by moments of sadness, feisty Olive shakes up our perceptions of growing older through comedy, song, dance and some hilarious wheelchair aerobics.

While poking fun at anything and everything related to the ‘blue rinse set’, Ironing out the Wrinkles carries an underlying message affirming older people as active and valuable members of our society.

Originally commissioned for MelbourneÂ’s Senior Citizens Week in 2001, Ironing out the Wrinkles has been acclaimed by audiences of all ages for its warm and humourous portrayal of a spirited, uncompromising woman.

As Olive, seasoned Melbournian performer Evelyn Krape* shows that, like a good wine, age is an asset.

“It was a standout performance for actress Evelyn Krape…accompanied by pianist Michael Westlake, she dazzled a large crowd with a frenzied blend of song, sadness and crowd participation” North Eastern Advertiser, Tasmania

Ironing out the WrinklesÂ’ Western Australian tour is coordinated by, and receives financial support from, Country Arts WA as part of the Shows on the Go touring program.
