Maniac, our accidental hero, suffers from ‘actor’s disease’ – the compulsion to impersonate. In the guise of the local chief justice, Maniac finds himself in the bowels of police headquarters conducting his own investigation into a suspected case of police misconduct.

Nobel Prize winner, Dario Fo, struck comedy gold with his masterpiece Accidental Death of an Anarchist. A satirical response to serious events – Italy’s politically turbulent 1960s – the play is a side-splittingly funny send-up of dodgy police and official ‘spin-doctoring’ that seems suspiciously fresh and relevant today.

Fo’s ‘Keystone Cops’ have performed in many languages and millions
of people around the world have laughed and cried at their antics. In this new adaptation, Black Swan Theatre Company will give FoÂ’s wonderful gag-fest a strongly Australian accent.
