Playwright
Henri Szeps
AddressGardens Theatre, 2 George St, Brisbane
Also showing at 2pm on Saturday 1 July 2006.

After the enormous success of I'm Not A Dentist a few years ago, Henri now brings us Why Kids? This is autobiographical, but where Dentist dealt mainly with his career, Why Kids? focuses on his other great preoccupation: marriage and raising his children.

The show is entertaining and loaded with jokes, hilarious anecdotes and a few well chosen songs. It thrives on the comedy and drama of everyday life. In fact the play's climax is a very candid exposé of the dynamics that occurred between Henri and his teenage children.

But to get to that point Henri necessarily addresses the baggage he brought to parenting, his early childhood in war-torn Europe, being a migrant kid in the 50's and his deep passion for acting.

These strands are beautifully woven together in this funny, warm and uplifting production.
