The beloved are gathered, the music is playing and the
Guiness is flowing nicely! But the loved one in the coffin
is alive and well and heartily hosting his own wake.
Milo O Â’Connor, who years ago struggled out of the Irish
bog to make a new life in Australia, has suffered one of
life Â’s great tragedies, people only say good things about
you when you Â’re dead. Join friends and family and a
few uninvited ghosts in a night of entertainment and
drama as family secrets emerge to take events on an
unpredictable journey. This highly spirited play brings
together irrepressible Irish humour with the joyous and
lyrical music of “The Wren Boys ”and promises a riotous
night of emotion, song and laughter.
Winner of the 2000 Matilda Award,the
Performing/4MBS Award for Playwriting and the 2001
NSW Premier Â’s Literary Award.
