AddressThe North Melbourne Arts House
Seduction Opera, in association with Astra Chamber Group presents Miles to Furphy 2001, a passionate dilemma.
High-tech vocal theatre, with music composed by Andrew Byrne and Elizabeth Drake will be presented at The North Melbourne Arts House on Friday May 4th and Saturday May 6th.
How to live a passionate life in Australia, a life of the spirit. A dilemma shared by Australians in 1901, during the period of Federation, and today. Based largely on correspondence between Joseph Furphy and Miles Franklin. A latterday version of the internet liaison of today, they came to know one another intimately, to the point of no ceremony remaining between them; yet they corresponded only through letters. These letters, which can be found in the Mitchell Library, are, for us in 2001, meditations on life and love in Australia.
