Prospero, the duke of Milan, has been deposed of by his brother and sent out to sea with his daughter, Miranda. They are washed up on an unknown island, which Prospero brings under his control using his magical powers. When fate brings a ship carrying his brother and fellow conspirators within Prosepero's sway, he has them all shipwrecked on the island for a settling of accounts.
