The painter, Otto, the playwright, Leo, and the decorator, Gilda, are all in love - with themselves and each other. In the first two acts, Gilda tries out relationships with both men, first in Paris, then London. But she betrays Otto with Leo and vice versa. By Act Three she has abandoned them to marry a staid art dealer Ernest and live in New York. Then Otto and Leo reappear
