Nobel Prize-winning poet and playwright Derek Walcott's stage version of Homer's Odyssey is an exuberant fusion of the traditional Greek tale with Caribbean landscape and culture. Often bawdy and hilarious, the play makes the journey of Odysseus home from the Trojan War memorably theatrical, and includes satirical side-swipes at a few overly-revered cultural institutions including colonialism and patriarchy. As Helen of Troy so accurately puts it: "Men. They'll me for everything now."
