“‘Hic sunt dracones.’ Here there be dragons.”
Sky, a young woman in a hospital bed, is visited by visions in her mind. She can hear people around her but not see or speak to them. A man appears to her with a message: you must wake up. She is left with a choice: to die or to live.
Beyond Sky There Be Dragons is based on a real-life case in which an Italian man came out of a two-year coma, saying he could hear everything around him during that time. Directed by Doug Montgomery, and starring Hana Vraniqi and Chris Palframan, Beyond Sky There Be Dragons takes place within Sky’s coma, where she confronts choices made and to be made, and decide whither she must go. Writer Cerise de Gelder turns the theme of vision and detachment into a story that delves into the human mind and deals with trust, betrayal and love.
