Lights…camera…election! From the creators of 2012’s Lawyers and Other Communicable Diseases, Showroom Theatre proudly brings you an original musical comedy that satirises everything wrong with modern Australian politics and its associated media coverage.
The date is June 24, 2013 – just two days away from the leadership spill that would topple a Prime Minister. Channel Eight’s news studio is normally a quiet, everyday place where the lead anchors bicker and preen while all the other employees dodge real work. But when the PM and the Opposition Leader arrive with their entourages to mount a televised debate, everyone’s world is turned upside down. Ideologies clash! Sexes battle! And who is that moon-faced, white-haired backbencher lurking in the shadows?
Featuring a live band and a cast and crew of WA’s best young talent, A Raging Election might not make you feel better about the state of our nation, but it will help you laugh about it.
A Raging Election plays for 5 nights and 1 matinee performance, from Tuesday 22 October to Saturday 26 October.
