From the production company that brought Perth 2012's Lawyers and other Communicable Diseases, Showroom Theatre is proud to present a completely original WA comedy/drama about (un)tying the knot!
"Marriage doesn't matter." These words (and worse) are delivered by the best man at his closest friend's wedding rehearsal dinner, prompting tears, arguments and at least one case of grievous bodily harm.
The very next day, a crisis meeting is convened by the bridal party - just four hours before the bride is set to walk down the aisle. Amid alcohol, sexual invitations and gender politics, only the groomsmen and bridesmaids working together can get the "happy" couple back on track...providing they both turn up to the church.
A piece of theatre very much a product of our times, 'Wedlock' explores the comical and often-disastrous dealings between men and women, their different desires and needs, and their skewed attitudes to commitment and romance. Ultimately, the show pops the big question: is it even possible for two people to make a permanent commitment to each other in this fickle, self-obsessed age?
THIS SHOW IS ON FOR A LIMITED 5-NIGHT RUN: Tue 14 – Sat 18 May - AT THE SUBIACO ARTS CENTRE STUDIO.
