VICTORIAN PREMIERE 16 November – 15 December
“Exhilarating...a romantic comedy that has a good head on its shoulders as well as a huge heart at its centre.” The Guardian
Red Stitch Theatre presents David Greig and Gordon McIntyre’s Midsummer, a lo-fi pop musical and romantic comedy between two mismatched lovers. Set during the summer solstice in Edinburgh, Bob and Helena meet at a classy wine bar. He is a directionless divorcee who makes a living through petty crime. She's a highly paid divorce lawyer, a serial bridesmaid with a taste for other people's husbands. She's totally out of his league; he's not her type at all. They absolutely should not sleep together. Not ever. After a drunken one-night stand, the unlikely duo find themselves on a wild weekend, burning a hole through fifteen thousand pounds.
Bob and Helena are played by special guest actor Ben Prendergast (Offspring, RUSH, Winners & Losers, Tangle, Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries) and Red Stitch ensemble member Ella Caldwell (Stop.Rewind, Oh Well Never Mind Bye, The Laramie Project).
Midsummer is a quirky, charming comedy that will bring home a stellar year of shows at Red Stitch.
