Wingz Productions latest show, the “Macarthur Playwriting Festival 2012: I Want It Now” is being staged at the Town Hall Theatre, 297 Queen Street, Campbelltown on Saturday 8th December 2012 at 7pm. Tickets are $23.00 each, the price of the tickets include a complimentary programme and a free supper. There will be also a lucky door prize drawn during this evening. Please visit our website: www.wingzproductions.com.au Earlier this year, the Macarthur Playwriting Festival called for entries in this year’s writing competition. Plays were received from throughout Sydney, interstate and internationally and the finalists of these are now being showcased. The finalist includes plays from; Gavin Austin (Potts Point), Susan Barrington (Raby), Angela Bramble (Victoria), James Forte (Western Australia), Ben Klok (Tahmoor), & Eddie Zipperer (USA). The plays are directed by Susan Barrington, Michael Griffin, Brendan Jones, Costa Karagounis, Ben Klok & Lauren Weston. The plays feature actors from across Sydney wide; they include Susan Barrington, Margaret Bell, Michael Griffin, Ben Klok, Paul Jenkins, Brendan Jones, Siobhan McBeth, Cassandra Menne, Will Peisker, Yasmin Stenson, Glenn Stolzenhein and Lauren Weston. There will be a special entertainment section of the evening being performed by acts from throughout Sydney and the presentation of the 2012 Wingz Awards. There will be two categories of voting; “The Judges Choice Award” and “The People’s Choice Award”, which will be awarded to the writer & director in each category. All audience members will have a chance to vote in The People’s Choice Award. A prize will also awarded to the best performance by an actor/actress which has been donated by Quest Castle Hill. The Festival Co-Ordinator, David W. Owens says “this is a great night of entertainment and is a unique opportunity to see new plays, written by playwrights from throughout Sydney, interstate and internationally. All plays have the line “I Want It Now” as a part of the play and its interesting how each playwright has incorporated this line into their play”. Synopsis of Plays A Blokes Coda. A comedy. Written by James Forte & Directed by Michael Griffin. Synopsis: When Barry tries to borrow a book of poetry from Dave, the father he rarely sees, there are many questions to be asked. Is Barry just trying to appear sensitive to impress his new girlfriend? Is Dave going to insist that blokes do not read poetry? Melting. A comedy. Written by Eddie Zipperer & Directed by Lauren Weston Synopsis: A snowman becomes aware of his own morality. Small Steps. A drama. Written Gavin Austin & Directed by Costa Karagounis Synopsis: Widowed Rose has left the country to begin a new life in the city. Nostalgic and anxious by the imminent arrival of her grown children’ can they accept that Rose has entered a stranger’s world. Smutman and the Puritan Plot. A comedy. Written & Directed by Ben Klok Synopsis: Smutman’s plans for world domination can only be thwarted by Chastity Heartlove & the Puritan Corporation. Who will come out on top? Find out in “Smutman and the Puritan Plot”. The Cool Purple Flyers. A dramatic comedy. Written Angela Bramble & Directed by Brendan Jones Synopsis: Based on true events, the play shows a meeting between a high school principle and an outspoken student about homophobia in the school. The meeting unravels, as does the principle. The Mummy’s Curse. A comedy. Written & Directed by Susan Barrington Synopsis: Poor King Tut is lonely in his life of immortality but he gets an unexpected visitor, with a business proposition. All Plays produced by David W.
