Darlington Theatre Players are proud to present A Wet and Windy Night, a farce by Declan Cleary with all the twists and misunderstandings of the genre at the Marloo Theatre in Greenmount opening November 23.

Act 1 introduces husband and wife Phil and Terri. Phil is having an affair with his gay lover Sam; Terri is having an affaire with Robin. Both couples arrive at Phil and Terri's cottage unbeknown to each other. Robin and Terri arrive soaked and Terri has left Robin's suitcase at the office. Robin is forced to improvise and adopts a female disguise introducing himself as Robyn.

Phil's boss Arthur Norman has been involved in a car accident when his car ran into a river. He and his weekend girlfriend whom he introduces as his "niece" - Samantha arrive unexpectedly at the cottage - confused yet? Mr Norman is suffering from a surfeit of oysters and feels queasy. The local constable PC Perkins, who is none too bright, arrives. He mistakes Terri for

Mr Norman's "niece" and jumps to several wrong conclusions about Samantha's 'thespian' background'. If you're not confused, bewildered and helpless with laughter by the end of the play then you haven't been paying attention.

Marloo is well-known for the quality of its productions and this is no exception. Only the second time ever produced (the first in Plumpton, Sussex in the UK) A Wet and Windy Night is sure to lighten your hearts and bring a smile to your face. Saucy without a single swear word, cheeky with no nudity, although with lots of underwear and cross-dressing this is the very epitome of enjoyable English farce.
