Harbour Theatre presents the Australian Premiere of :-
“The Ash Girl”
by Timberlake Wertenbaker
Directed by Nicola Bond and Peter Kirkwood
The award winning directorial team of Peter Kirkwood and Nicola Bond bring the magic of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s darkly lyrical adaptation of Cinderella to Harbour Theatre for their 5th and final season for 2012. Enter a world of mythical proportions with a Fairy in the Mirror, a wise old owl, a handsome Prince, brave mice, mean stepsisters and a stepmother who only has the “best?” intentions.
In addition to dealing with her stepmother and stepsisters Ash Girl (Ashie) has to battle The Seven Deadly Sins who writhe in the forest and have been transformed into phantasmagorical animal forms such as Slothworm, Greedfox, Envysnake, Gluttontoad, Angerbird, Lust and Pridefly. Ashie must confront and overcome these temptations and her own Sadness if she is to find happiness in the arms of the Prince. For a truly magical experience come and relive the wonder and fear that Cinderella stories so often gloss over.
