The Great Deckchair Art Auction

Like all great ideas there is an argument amongst the staff at deckchair theatre over who came up with the idea to ask visual artists to paint the canvas of deck chairs and then auction the works as a way to raise funds for the company. Regardless of who was responsible for the concept The Great Deck Chair Auction is a unique event created to support a unique arts organisation. First held in 1997, over the past nine years it has grown consistently and is now considered a high profile arts event on the Perth social calendar. This fantastic occasion is an opportunity to see the cutting edge of visual art in Western Australia, support the creation of new Australian theatre and maybe even snap up a bargain.
