deckchair theatre teams up with one of Australia’s most exciting new independent theatre companies. Under the direction of Matthew Lutton, ThinIce has forged its own wildly imaginative and visual theatre with a bent for the wondrous side of life. The Goose Chase is their major new work. London, 1927: Edward Blunt is a celebrated detective with a self-esteem problem. Singapore, 2006: Edward Taylor is a journalist stuck in transit in the tiny country he grew up in twenty years ago. Marilyn is the fast-driving theosophist grandmother who mysteriously links them together. Their story is an adventurous wrestle with death, love, global warming and one of the greatest hoaxes of the twentieth century. This is big-hearted theatrical athletics for a solo actor, a fantastic melting pot of words and imagery, music and transformation. Inspired by the Cottingley fairy photos, it builds on the gorgeous family history and Singaporean childhood of the show’s creators. The Goose Chase is an epic in miniature about what keeps us going in the face of disaster and confusion.
