Experience the thrilling adventure of the Australia II is she and her crew struggle for the America’s Cup victory that ultimately placed Australia - and Fremantle - on the sailing world map. A tale of personal and national obsession over a 10 year period, this new production of award-winning play by WA playwright Ingle Knight features a cast of West Australian characters including skipper John Bertrand, ‘winged keel’ inventor Ben Lexcen and of course tycoon Alan Bond.
Deckchair Theatre will be presenting this new production of the acclaimed play to coincide with the biggest sailing event to hit Fremantle in 25 years, the Perth 2011 ISAF World Sailing Championships. This is an unforgettable ride, celebrating a true moment of Australian sporting achievement that held a nation enthralled. Don’t miss it!
