Adapted by Peta Murray and originally produced by Tasmania’s Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Blueback will be remounted at Spare Parts’ Fremantle home theatre with highly experienced puppeteers, Michael Barlow and Sarah Nelson directed by Spare Parts Artistic Director, Philip Mitchell. Blueback is an evocative story set along the WA coastline that captures the mystery of the sea and the majesty of an old fish called “Blueback” and the moment when an inquisitive boy becomes a man of conviction, prepared to stand up for what he loves and believes in. One of Winton’s most personal and quintessentially Western Australian, stories Blueback depicts the life of a young boy, Abel and his mother, their relationship with the environment and their desire to protect and preserve the natural habitat of the place they call home. Blueback is perfect for everyone, particularly for ages 5–12 and their families. From October 3 to 15, 10.00am and 1.00pm at Spare Parts Puppet Theatre (opposite the Freo Train Station).
