When the world around us begins to fade, art & creativity are quick to follow…

Leningrad in the 1950’s, Russia’s great poet Anna Ahkmatova is under house arrest. Forbidden to write; her words are preserved by friends who memorise her verse.

In a future Australia, Rachel is confined within a sterile dystopia. Searching out the missing pieces of her life, she risks her own safety to rescue poetry from a time lost.

Writing plays since 1968, Alma De Groen has made a significant contribution to Australian theatre. Among many accolades, she was the first playwright to win the Patrick White Literary Award. The Woman in the Window was first produced by the Melbourne Theatre Company in 1998 and in the following year the play was short listed for the NSW Premier’s Award for Drama.

Douglas Montgomery: Award winning director, he has been behind many popular independent productions such as Dimboola (Producer - 40th anniversary, La Mama), Cat's Paw (Design - MWT) and Short & Sweet Festival (Best Director). Douglas has also produced shows in notable venues throughout Melbourne including The Fairfax Studio (The Arts Centre), Chapel Off Chapel, Theatreworks and Cromwell Road Theatre.

Cast includes Milijana ÄŒancar (Stingers, Blue Heelers, The Secret Life of Us), Joanne Trentini (Offspring, Rush, Winners and Losers, Greenroom Award Winning – Acts of Deceit), Anthony Winnick (Bed of Roses, The Return), Madeleine Stewart, Stevie Hall, Nicole Omeara and Tristan Hollands.
