The first of C.S Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia is a children's classic, beloved of young readers since its publication in 1950. It is also a familiar tale of the struggle between good and evil, freedom and oppression, and so on a symbolic level there is much for adults to enjoy as well.
In a Britain at war, the four Pevensie children enter the magic world of Narnia, accessible through a wardrobe in the children's bedroom. There, they face all kinds of challenges, and the fantasy world they inhabit is not so different from the reality they are escaping. Narnia is ruled by the tyrannous White Witch, who has made it "winter for a hundred years, but never Christmas". She knows that one day "two sons of Adam and two sons of Eve" will arrive to join forces with the great lion Aslan, true ruler of Narnia, who has been missing for years, but is on the move again. The presence of the children will liberate his power. And so begin the Pevensie's adventures in this captivating and magical land...
The telling of this timeless story is enhanced by the beautiful musical score by Irita Kutchmy and the melodic songs bring depth to the characters and an added poignancy to the experiences they encounter. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the great "Turkish Delight" musical, so take the opportunity to enjoy some while you watch the show.
