Playwright

Director
Gabrielle Metcalf
@Shakespeare.com explores the impact of facebook, twitter, email, texting and sexting on relationships and uses some of Shakespeare’s most famous characters, themes and plots to do so. Building on 3 years of theatre study, students have been influenced by the ideas of many of the theorists they have explored during their degree, including Laban, Growtoski, Stanislavksi, Yakim, Michael Chekhov, Viewpoints, and the basics of physical theatre theory to develop their performance. From realism to the avant-garde, the performers deconstruct Shakespeare to respond to communication in the 21st century. Over 50 students were involved in the conception, devising and production of @shakespeare.com. Directed by Gabrielle Metcalf and produced by Vahri McKenzie in collaboration with the cast and crew the result is a wonderful celebration of all things theatrical – comedy, tragedy, dance, sound, movement and music and all things technical – texting, twittering, face booking and projecting. @shakespeare.com is being performed for 4 nights only! The Bakehouse Theatre, 255 Angas Street, Adelaide. 23rd,24th,25th and 26th February 2011. 7.30pm 1 hour (no interval)
