MATES On Broadway

A SPECTACULAR kick-off to a very busy year awaits the supporters of MATES Theatre Society in February 2011 when the gala presentation MATES On Broadway ushers in an exciting twenty-first year for the popular community theatre group.

MATES On Broadway is a gala fundraiser which incorporates in excess of thirty songs from classic musicals West Side Story and Les Miserables, contemporary productions Rent and Wicked, as well as all-time favourites Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music.

Guaranteed to delight all ages, the cast of MATES On Broadway will perform three shows at the Redland’s Performing Arts Centre on February 18^TH and 19^TH, with money raised benefiting MATES Theatre Society’s continued embracement of arts and culture in the Redlands.

Director of MATES On Broadway, Melanie White, is very excited about the potential and the prospect of this spectacular season opener, “we wanted a fund raiser which was different, and also beneficial to the community (and) cast alike”, White responded.

“We also wanted something which would grab any potential new members, and talent that we had not fallen upon”, continued White.

A massive ensemble numbering twenty-two - the largest cast MATES Theatre Society have ever assembled - will bring MATES On Broadway to life; as well as comprising many of the entertainers who have been common attractions in the group’s recent musical productions this gala will introduce many new performers who each possess exceptional and outstanding talent.

“MATES On Broadway is more about the team; what we can bring forward and show the Redland’s what talent MATES actually has, and leave people amazed at how far MATES has come over the (past twenty-one) years”, declared White.

“I am so excited about the future for MATES overall”, enthused White as she look forward to the massive 2011 calendar that supporters of MATES Theatre Society can expect, “this is only the beginning of bigger things yet to come”.

MATES On Broadway is only the beginning of a massive 2011 for MATES Theatre Society, following their production of the comedy Secret Bridesmaid’s Business the group will stage their marquee event the all-time favourite musical Wizard of Oz during June-July.

MATES Theatre Society will close off their 2011 season with the pantomime Mother Goose which is set down for October-November.
