Short & Spooky
A One Act Play Season
Three great shows in one night
Kalamunda Dramatic Society (KADS)proudly presents their 2011 one act season titled Short and Spooky. The season will showcase three unique one act plays all of differing themes and will perform at the Town Square Theatre opening August 26. The annual one act play season is effectively several short plays performed in one evening. The season always proves to be an entertaining and delightfully social season before the plays enter into the various one act festivals across the state.
The first play of the evening is The Flat, written and directed by Noel O’Neill. This tragi-comedy is about a man and a woman who arrange to meet on a park bench to cheat on their spouses in a nearby flat, but the woman has a change of heart.
Award winning playwright and director, Noel O’Neill says “the inspiration behind this play was purely about relationships and how complicated they become”.
Next on stage will be the short monologue I Candy, written by Lis Hoffmann and Phil Jeng Kane with permission of Stella Theatre Company. The comedy is also directed by Lis Hoffman and features actor, comedian and singer Narelle Belle. Candy has terrible luck with men but who keeps her company when she’s locked up in her room?
The final play of the evening is Edgar Allan Poe’s classic gothic story about murder and insanity The Tell-Tale Heart, directed by Tim Edwards.
