A wild romp of a comedy that asks, what's our country coming to when university science enrolments have fallen so low it now takes a higher tertiary entrance score to study fashion design? And what can be done about it? The Minister for Science decides there is only one way to get students enrolling again – make science sexier! Prepare to be delighted as science, fashion design, fame and sex appeal collide and combust in this outrageous comedy on a serious subject. Bruce Hoogendoorn’s play The Role Model was performed at The Street in 2008, Riverina Theatre Company in 2008 and Boobook Theatre in 2009. It won the 2006 Inscription Award, and was workshopped with Edward Albee. Simon Says was performed at The Street in 2009. Praise for The Role Model: The play is a cynical satire, very reminiscent of David Williamson at his early best. (On Stage and Walls Melbourne) ...Hoogendoorn is quite obviously an emerging Australian playwright of considerable vision and originality. I look forward, with keen anticipation, to his continued development... (Geoffrey Williams, Stage Whispers) Cast: Brian Kavanagh, Jaime Isfahani, David Villanti, Michelle Cooper, Clinton McRobert, Andy McLeod, Hugh Bosman and Fiona Fox The Street 6 – 16 October, 7.30pm Matinees: 9th & 16th at 2.00pm $15.00 - $25.00 Bookings: 6247 1223 or www.thestreet.org.au
