I'm very pleased to announce the programme for the next Sunday with SAWT, to be held 20 June at Holden Street Theatres, is as follows: Lunch of hot, tasty soup and a crusty roll. Served from 1.00 pm. The Holden Street bar will be open. The cost for the whole day is a mere $12.00. At 2.00 pm the script in hand reading of the second of my neo-gothic plays, "Illmet". In this play an angel meets a vampire on the last Christmas Eve of the old Millennium. A little dated now but the issues discussed, free will and religion, are still valid. and, after an interval, a very exciting new play by James Majur "Broken Pot". This is a stunning piece of work by a young playwright. James is from the Sudan and has written this piece to highlight the differences in women's status and rights between the Sudan and Australia. It is an incredibly strong and moving play. At James' own request the play will be read by Australian actors as it is his wish that the audience clearly understand his message. SAWT is very pleased to be able to assist him with the development of the script. Don't miss this, it has a tremendous impact. It has been a long time since I was as moved by a play as I was by this one. It has enormous passion and the music of the dialogue is extraordinary. If there is one Sunday with SAWT you shouldn't miss this year it's this one. I will be directing both plays and the cast will be David Cronin, Shannon Gray, Joanna Webb and Damien White. Joanna and Damien will be doing both plays. By the way, we have modified our Friends of SAWT membership. For $20.00 you can now join as a Friend of SAWT, entitling you to attend two of our Sundays with SAWT in a year free of charge. It will entitle you to attend our monthly meetings and workshops and receive discounts to our full scale productions. You will also be able to enjoy the knowledge that you are helping us to pay local actors and directors, therefore assisting them in their own professional development as well as helping our local writers develop their work in a professional environment. This Sunday with SAWT would be a perfect opportunity to join as a Friend of SAWT. Tony Moore Chair, SAWT
