Best solo show at New York festival visits The Don
A truly fantastic, futuristic fable beckons in the school holidays at Don Russell Performing Arts Centre when The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer debuts on Wednesday 14 April with shows at 11am and 1.30pm.
Perth-based show creator and solo performer Tim Watts won the prestigious Outstanding Solo Show award for this production at the New York International Fringe Festival last year.
This visually inspiring theatrical experience blends animation, mime, puppetry and live music into a story of love and a delightful quest to save the planet.
The seas have risen, the polar ice caps have melted and the human survivors are living on farms atop skyscrapers and on mountains. The scientists have tried everything. Floating islands sank, space probes found nothing.
The remaining humans now turn to the oceans to save themselves and humanity. Alvin Sputnik accepts the mission to journey in to the mysterious depths of the deep blue sea to find a place where human beings can survive.
The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer was first performed at Northbridge’s Blue Room Theatre in June last year, receiving rave reviews and enjoying a sell-out season.
Watts’ most recent theatre credits include Heart of Gold, Deathtrap and Don’t Look Back. His show Red Lashes was presented as part of the 2008 UNIMA International Puppet Festival.
Please note, this show is not suitable for children less than five years old.
