In 1973 Rocky Horror was performed at the London Royal Court Theatre Upstairs for the very first time, in 1974 the film was made that would start a world-wide revolution (almost single-handedly) that would enable people to put their frocks on, take their clothes off, and realise that their sexuality was something that they could embrace, no matter what the flavour. "Don’t Dream It, Be It!" became a mantra for the time, and that time lasted through the first Mardi Gras March, the Belmore Park Hotel Drag-Shows, the shoulder-pad-wearing, Pete’s Beat attending, Cappriccios dancing set. Through, the Midnight Shift-gyrating, backroom-fondling, Late-night-Hoyts-screening, back-row heavy-breathing, pool-ball-sized-eye-dancing DCM and Exchange Hotel Days, through Mardi Gras’ renaming, rebirthing, Anniversary-marching halcyon days. And you know what? Rocky Horror, and the safe accepting space it generated, was a part of ALL of that.

Rocky Horror is a cinematic celebration of the musical that changed many lives. This event is a "traditional" showing of the late-night movie that tilted our world, with a GLBTQ slant, and more than a fetish twist. Complete with performers from the Hoyts/Greater Union Live Cast who performed the show there every week for 31 years, and of course You. without whom there would be no audience participation. This is a gyrating cinematic/shadow-cast romp down memory lane. Coming in character, fetish dress, cross-dress, or even stages of un-dress is absolutely encouraged!

Tonight, my unconventional conventionalists, we revisit those days in a theatre and a location suited to the feel and the closeness that The Rocky Horror Picture Show always felt most at home in. A neighbourhood theatre, with the doors closed, the lights dimmed and the atmosphere charged.

So, frock up in your Rocky Horror best. Straighten your seams, polish up those 6-inch heels, remember those call-backs, find your rice and newspapers, practice your Time Warp, and grab your tickets.

Come! We are ready for the floorshow!
