What would you do for 6 million dollars and the chance to change your life forever? Would you cart a dead uncle around the South of France for an all-expense paid vacation whist trying to avoid a legally blind Broklynite murderess, a lissome dogs home representative, a hen-pecked optometrist, a mysterious Italian, and a host of off-stage dogs?
Lucky Stiff, based loosely on the Michael Butterworth novel “The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo”, tells the story of mild-mannered shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon who is set to inherit 6 million dollars on the proviso he takes the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle on vacation to Monte Carlo. Others vying for this lucrative inheritance soon turn the trip into an all-out comic melee, and what follows is a fast-paced, zany and wonderfully off-beat musical farce.
Produced by the Stage Artz Theatre Co, and directed by Samantha Neaves, with musical direction by Alex Ash, and choreography by Amy Gough. The talented cast includes Lachlan James O’Brien, Jess Burns, Shannon McKinn, Luke Davis, Tim Martin, Nikole Lauren Ramsay, Sarah Blackstone, Dave Jones, Ingrid Conde, Catherine Davies, Chris Jackson, Sam Guinn, Michael Johnco, and Jim Burns as “The Stiff”.
