Hypnotist Intrigues at the Theatre
Innovation and entertaining theatre are the driving forces behind Perth Theatre Company’s production of An Oak Tree, which debuts in WA at Don Russell Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 7 November at 8pm.
The fascinating and unique play – which has had highly successful seasons in London and on Broadway – features 2008 Equity Guild Award-winner, Luke Hewitt, and the one-time face of Perth television news, Peter Holland, fresh from his role in Perth Theatre Company’s production of Equus.
Hewitt (who starred in 2008’s The Gun), plays a stage hypnotist performing his act.
What is most unusual about Holland’s role as the hypnotist’s subject, is he will neither have seen nor read a word of the play before performing in it.
This is the peculiar quirk of An Oak Tree, a quirk that has been adhered to wherever it has been performed around the globe.
An Oak Tree is a brave story about loss, suggestion and the power of the mind. It is a vivid and absurdly comic play about how we fill the gaps in our lives.
Come along for a one-of-a-kind theatre experience which should keep you talking long after the show.
Please note this show has no intermission.
