The sound grows nearer, then recedes. . . . At length . . . fades altogether, and away on the marsh is a draining, sucking, churning sound . . . together with the shrill neighing and whinnying of a horse in panic. And then another cry: a shout, a terrified sobbing . . . from a young child.
The Stirling Players are proud to present the dark ghost story of Stephen Mallatratt's adaptation of Susan Hill's Victorian inspired novel The Woman in Black.
This thriller is the bone-chilling, eerie story of a solicitor sent to a remote house on the thick, dank English marshes. There he attempts to settle the affairs of its late owner and gets much more than he’s bargained for when he is left to pass the night alone, cut off from land by the rising tide. The locals believe the house is cursed, and the initially sceptical young man soon finds himself confronting the grim echoes of its blighted past and the terrible spectre that haunts it.
This exciting play features Alan Kennedy, Adam Dear and Kyla Jones, and is directed by the experienced Dannielle Ashton, noted for her recent successes with A Streetcar Named Desire and The Boys at Old Mill Theatre in South Perth.
The Woman in Black plays at the Stirling Theatre, Morris Place, Innaloo over 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 October 2010.
