A minimalist set...15 characters...and only TWO actors
QUIET ON THE SET!!!!
Set in an Irish village, Marie Jones' STONES IN HIS POCKETS tells the hysterical story of the behind-the-scenes shenanigans when a Hollywood film crew moves in. Two aspiring movie extras and host of other extraordinary characters are brilliantly brought to life by just two actors.
In this tongue-in-cheek comedy, a Hollywood film production company overruns a "picturesque" Irish village in County Kerry. The village has been "used" by Hollywood for this purpose before and the blase and wily locals see it as an excellent economic opportunity to queue up to play extras.
The culture clash is inevitable. The film folk perceive the locals through a hazy romantic fog as simple, peat-cutting , Guiness-swilling folk, speaking mystic music. The director wants to replace the cows because they aren't Irish enough, the locals laugh hysterically at the leading lady's attempts to master an Irish accent...get the picture? However, they're not so cavalier when an Irish teenager is broken as he discovers the American Dream doesn't apply to him.
