The Needle and the Damage Done

An out of tune comedy The Needle and the Damage Done, a quirky comedy brings some of the worst music ever released, in another Perth exclusive, to Thornlie’s Don Russell Performing Arts Centre on Friday 10 July at 8pm. This national touring show is a joyous, humorous romp through a Top 10 of the worst records ever released in the history of the world from someone who’s been collecting vinyl since she was old enough to shoplift a Rolf Harris LP. Writer-performer Fiona Scott-Norman will lead audiences through the most cringe-worthy music in the world, including albums from recording luminaries such as John Laws, AFL Players, white supremacists and misguided celebrities like Abigail of Number 96 fame and Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy. A hit at the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the show is directed by Comedy Inc’s Paul McCarthy, and is two parts nostalgia, two parts cultural satire and 10 parts shock and awe comedy. After spending 20 years trawling through the worst music in the world, Scott – Norman has created a show she describes as “…a fast train to wrongtown, and (not wishing to sound up myself), incredibly funny. People cry laughing in this show.” Fiona Scott-Norman is a comedy writer, director, performer, and radio DJ. A stand-up comedian since 2004, Scott-Norman has reached the finals of two of Triple J’s Raw Comedy competitions and appeared on the ABC’s Collectors with her retro vinyl collection.
