One of the most inspiring musicals of all time, Les Misérables is coming to the Regal Theatre in Subiaco for a 14 performance season (plus one preview) commencing August 7 2009.
Produced by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Australia (MSWA), this spectacular local stage production is based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel of the same name and will feature an all-West Australian cast of more than 50 vibrant performers.
Les Misérables follows the lives, interactions and struggles of a cast of characters over a twenty year period as they seek redemption and revolution in 19th century France. The musical is a dynamic and emotional demonstration of human spirit - and so it is fitting that all proceeds from the production will benefit MSWA and people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
In 2009, experienced Musical Director, Tim Cunniffe, will join with Director John Senczuk whose thirty-year career in the theatre has resulted in an intimate knowledge of the musicals, both in Australia and on the West End.
The role of leading man 'Jean Valjean' who becomes a force for good in the world, but cannot escape his dark past will be played by accomplished Perth actor and singer Ian Toyne.
This must-see event is thanks to the generosity of the cast, crew and proud supporters of MSWA.
MS is the most common neurological condition affecting young Australian adults. More than 18,000 Australians have MS. Three out of four people are diagnosed before they reach the age of 35. In Western Australia alone, 16 people on average are newly diagnosed each month. The unpredictability of MS makes it a truly devastating disease for those affected. Sadly, there is yet no known cause or cure for MS. For over 35 years, MSWA has provided dedicated support to meet the diverse needs of people affected by this cruel disease, greatly enhancing the lives of many people with MS.
