Fun under the stars with CJ Dennis
Written by CJ Dennis
Scripted and Directed by Hellie Turner

Beneath the splendid twinkle of the Milky Way, kompany M proudly performs for your amusement and delight, a charming selection of CJ Dennis’ humorous poetry.

For the first time at Taylor’s Art and Coffee House, kompany M ventures out of the shed for a night of family fun and frivolity, presenting a dinner show on an outside stage against a moonlit sky.  With a delectable gourmet barbecue, patrons are invited to bring along a bottle of wine, and savour the culinary delights and the light-hearted yarns of an Australian favourite.

The prolific ‘Den’ first dipped his lid to Australia in the shadow of WW1.  As a dexterous rhymster and begetter of quaint ideas he remains highly esteemed, along with Banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson.  Dennis was a lover of human nature, utilising his rich humour to demonstrate a fine feeling for his fellow man.  Once heralded as an Australian Robert Burns … or the everyman’s poet … CJ Dennis very aptly portrayed the emotional truth, spirit and sentiment of the difficult times in which he wrote … infusing his work with a sweet sentimentality that captured the hearts of many … child and adult alike. His unique brand of colloquial humour and clever satire attracted deep and universal affection from the Aussie public, an affection that still abounds today.

And so … do yourself a favour and let the mega-talented Luke Hewitt, Peter Holland and Leanne Page bring colour and life to the enduring words of this ‘national treasure’, in a joyful evening of great food and lively entertainment under the stars.

A splendidly amusing summer night for the whole family!
