Playlovers are proud to present the wonderful comedy I Hate Hamlet written by Paul Rudnick and directed by well known Perth director James Hough Neilson, opening at the Floreat Hackett Hall on March 13 with a three week season concluding on Saturday 28 March.
I Hate Hamlet is an American comedy about a young good-looking TV soapie star who decides he would like to have a go at the classics, in this case, Shakespeare.
He has been offered the role of Hamlet in a Central Park Production of - you guessed it - Hamlet. This entails him having to move from LA to New York and to acquire an apartment which turns out to be a very interesting place.
However, doubts in his ability to play the classics begin to arise and he desperately needs assistance!! How does Andrew Rally go about getting help?
When asked what happens to the leading man, Hough Neilson replies “Well, why don't you come along and find out? I promise you will not be disappointed. This is a great comedy, beautifully written about some of the problems actors have to face”.
Hough Neilson presented I Hate Hamlet at Wanneroo’s Limelight Theatre in June 2004, “I enjoyed it so much that I decided to revisit it once more. The play itself is above all a tribute to actors”.
