A Christmas Carol

At the 2005 Equity Guild Awards for professional excellence, the Stephen Lee directed production of "A Christmas Carol", received nominations for Best Production, Best Director, and Best Actor. Stephen Lee returns to direct in 2008, and has again invited best actor nominee Kingsley Judd to play the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Building on the success of “The Canterbury Tales”, “Macbeth” and “Othello”, Class Act and Bare Naked Theatre Companies present Stephen Quinn’s newest revision of this wonderful Christmas story. With a great deal of comedy, music and pathos, the adaptation remains faithful to the story and intent of the original Charles Dickens' text. Colourful characters, costumes and songs capture the ‘spirit of the season’ on the mean streets of Victorian London. A true classic filled with vivid characters: Scrooge, The Ghost of Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, comical Mr Fezziwig and the evil Old Joe. Mean old miser Ebenezer Scrooge is visited on Christmas Eve by ghosts who show him scenes from his past, present and future life until he eventually comes to understand the true meaning of Christmas. It is a story that has cast its spell for over one hundred and fifty years, and is as relevant today as ever, suggesting we spare a thought for those who cannot afford to celebrate as we do.
