Garrick Theatre is proud to present the stage version of the hilarious 60s sitcom Get Smart directed by well known Perth director Ken Harris.
The tv sitcom created by Buck Henry and Mel Brooks featured Don Adams and Barbara Feldon, and has been described as an insane version of James Bond and Inspector Clouseau which has been adapted for the stage by Christopher Segal.
This hilarious stage adaptation of tv’s golden age comedy, follows the misadventures of the famous spy, Maxwell Smart, agent 86 and his lovely assistant, 99. Originally developed as a parody of Ian Fleming's James Bond, this very funny play features most of the famous characters, one liners & gags that have been loved for generations.
In this adaptation, Max & 99 are on the trail of Siegfried, evil boss from KAOS, the international organisation of evil & nastiness…who may have the dreaded ‘Inthermo’ machine which is powerful enough to destroy the USA!
Will he get there in time? Will Siegfried believe how many coast guards are circling him? Director Ken Harris, a self confessed Get Smart tragic, says “there’s only one way to find out.”
Garrick regulars will remember Harris having directed and being recognised in 2007 with Garrick’s Philip Jamieson Award for Best Production for the outstanding comedy My Friend Miss Flint.
The tv series won seven Emmy Awards, and it was nominated for another fourteen Emmys, as well as two Golden Globe Awards.
Garrick Theatre’s production features Lee Sheppard as Maxwell Smart, Lisa Skrypichayko as Agent 99, Andrew Warwick as Chief, and Geoff Miethe as ‘Siegfried’ Max's arch nemesis and Head of KAOS!
Suitable for general audiences, Garrick’s Get Smart opens Friday July 24 commencing a three week season. Bookings are through the Swan Valley Visitor Centre in person or by phoning 9379 9400.
Time: All shows start at 8pm - *except for Sunday 26 July – Matinee performance at 2pm
