Markwell Presents are very pleased to announce the premiere season of their new cinematic theatre for young people play called Rocks in my Head. This is a story about a father and son who never said they love each other. Sam is 14 and is facing the prospect of living alone with an uncommunicative father as his mother has just passed away. On the day of the funeral he runs away pursued by his best friend Morgan who helps Sam wrestle with truth, trust and the courage to face the future. A down to earth experience that will entertain and inspire young people and their parents. Writer/producers Brad Jennings and Steven Maxwell are the creatives behind Markwell Presents and have presented 4 new plays for young people over the last 5 years. They have produced performances with over 40 schools across Qld as artists in residence and draw inspiration from the students and teachers they work with. Rocks in my Head is presented in association with Villanova College and will be directed by Sue Lawson. Brad approached Sue early this year about creating a new work especially for her to direct as a celebration of her retirement from teaching at the end of 2008. We have had the privilege to work with Sue on many projects over the last five years, she has inspired students and colleagues alike with her energetic and honest teaching style that has produced many high quality performances from her “boys” at Villanova for the last 12 years.
